YouTube Live Event Makes Me Think
Random thoughts on yesterday's global live show.
- Viewership must've been huge. Can't wait for the numbers.
- It was no doubt a historic moment. First global webcast that didn't collapse after two minutes. We had to wait for this for a decade.
- Casting is easy for YouTube. Artists audition by uploading fot months, everybody is a jury. There is no audition of this size anywhere.
- I suspect the stream was censored by software. Somebody uttered "shit" and the audio went out for a few seconds. Soon the software will be able to replace an offending word with another. Bad Google, bad!
- There were three streams, one from the stage, two from backstage and viewers were able to switch between them. Get ready for the day when every camera will have a separate streem.
- What happens when they start with sports events. Soccer World Cup, anyone? For now the target audience is young, when they start shooting for adults, TV is doomed. Are you paying attention, fuckers?
- Ads don't interrupt the show. They are permanently fixed at the side of the browser. Even in full screen mode, there's lots of space for ads.
- The ads can be local. The browser knows where you are.
- It's fucking big money.
